If you’ve ever experienced the frustration of trying to surf the Internet on a seriously slow connection then you should check out these top tips for boosting your Broadband Speeds provided by www.broadbanddeals.co.uk.
How long is your cable?
If you’re using a cable to access the internet and don’t have a wireless router then make sure that cable isn’t too long as this can impact on the speed of your broadband connection. If you can go wireless then do so as this will eliminate the problem.
How many users?
If you do have a wireless router then make sure it’s not overloaded with users. How many people are accessing the Internet at the same time? Make sure you neighbours are not using you wireless connection by making your connection is secure (i.e. you need a password to access the wireless connection).
Clean up your Web Browser
Make sure you delete your cache and cookies on a regular basis as these can slow things down if you’re a heavy Internet user.
Try Off Peak.
If you want to download a really large file then try downloading it in Off Peak times as this can really cut down the time it takes.
Adjust your browser settings
Some browsers like Internet Explorer 6 download a web page in sequential order and this is really inefficient meaning that if there are loads of pictures on the page it will take much longer to download. Make sure you’re using the latest version of IE or better still start using Mozilla Firefox to browse the Internet.
Switch Broadband Provider.
If you’re still having problems speak to your Broadband Provider and see what speed you should be getting. Is there a better package they could offer, or if not start thinking about switching your Broadband Provider.
